About
Founded in the 12th century by the Almoravid Sultan Ali ibn Youssef, this mosque is the historic anchor around which the medina of Marrakech expanded. Rebuilt during the Almohad era and restored in the 16th and 19th centuries, it stands as the city's oldest mosque. Located right next to the Almoravid Koubba and the artisan souks, it provides a fascinating glimpse into medieval Marrakchi urbanism.
